Dr. Earl D. McBride returns after his service
in WWI and takes over the practice of the only
orthopedic surgeon in Oklahoma City, who had died
during an influenza epidemic. |

Steady growth forces Dr. McBride to move to a
larger space. A two-story brick building is purchased
and named ‘Reconstruction Hospital and McBride
Clinic.’ After receiving letters from bridge
contractors regarding construction jobs, the staff
decides to officially change the name to ‘The
Bone and Joint Hospital and McBride Clinic.’

Bone & Joint Hospital and McBride Clinic becomes
a full-fledged hospital, adding arthritis care
to bone and joint disorders and orthopedic surgeries.
Dr. Ishmael, one of the first rheumatologists
in the U.S. and Dr. Shorbe, the first fully trained
Orthopedic Surgeon, joined the staff. |

Construction on a remodel for McBride Clinic is
completed on Lee Street, creating a new ambulatory
surgery center and two floors of clinic offices,
all connected with the 4-level parking garage
and the three floors of the hospital. |

McBride Clinic includes a staff of over 250, including
24 physicians who are recognized world-wide among
the best. In addition to the Downtown location,
there is an Edmond clinic, a Norman clinic, an
Occupational Health Clinic on W. Reno and the
newest addition, McBride Clinic Orthopedic Hospital
on Broadway Extension. |
